Tutor  Wuon Gean Ho

Explore experimental carving and inking using Japanese vinyl to create a range of colourful relief prints. You will learn how to make a multi-coloured image with this technique that was popularised by Picasso.

Course information

We will create prints using a wide range of mark making at the carving and printing stage. The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have made some prints in the past. Over the two days we will generate lots of colourful results.

Course structure

We will cover experimental mark making, experimental inking and experimental printing using the blocks both as relief blocks (where ink is printed from the surface of the block) and intaglio (where ink is printed from the grooves in the block). We will also experiment with viscosity printing where colours float on top of each other.

We can decide when we would like to have lunch and tea breaks together as a group.

By the end of the course you will have learned a wide variety of carving techniques and explored many ways of getting ink on the paper.
