Exploring Printmaking With Wood

Over the 4 weeks, you will learn wood engraving and woodblock printmaking. Explore and enjoy the two different ways of working with wood using specialist tools. With traditional tools, wood and paper, learn how to carve and print your own pictures.
About the Tutor
Sumiko Eadon is a Japanese artist based in the East Midlands. She started printmaking in the early 2000s inspired by the English artist Gwen Raverat’s wood engravings. She began Japanese woodcut printing and wood engraving, and then gained an extensive experience of various printmaking techniques in the UK, joining LPW in 2013 after completing a degree in Fine Art at Loughborough University. Her work has been exhibited in the East Midlands and beyond. She has also worked as an artist in residence at LPW.

Introduction / demonstration of cutting & engraving ( Weeks 1 and 2)

Experiment and develop ideas (Weeks 3 and 4)
Each week's session is structured as follows: -
- Introduction to the session
- Cutting / printing /experimenting
- Clean-up, tidy and packing up
