Be inspired to create natural, abstract, textural landscapes using a mono screenprint technique on both A3 card and A3 sized fabric. Fabric inks and binders will be used, including gold, bronze and silver colours.

Learn to cut beautiful, unique images by creating your own very finely detailed and cut stencils using waterproof paper. Learn how to apply your designs onto your mono backgrounds using stencils to create multi-layered designs. 

By the end of the morning you will have finished printing an array of paper and fabric creations.

Course Structure 

  • Introduction to mono printing and how to create textural backgrounds on A3 card & cotton fabric
  • Introduction to screenprinting, screens and waterproof stencil paper
  • Demo: Tape screens
  • Demo: Mixing fabric inks & binders
  • Demo: How to create textural abstract mono prints to create landscapes. Working on both paper & fabric
  • Demo: Designing stencils, techniques of using craft knifes, different ways to fold the stencil paper to create mirror images / repeat imagery
  • Demo: Attaching stencils onto screens / printing onto card & fabrics / printing techniques
  • Demo: Printing onto fabric, cleaning screens and cleaning stencils to reuse.

About the Tutor

Sally Moret is an established and experienced self-employed freelance designer. ‘I use my commercial experience in the footwear, fashion and accessories industry to produce unique new and vibrant styles of work.’

Career To-date

Sally has 33 years’ experience in the fashion & textile industry. For the first 17 years she worked full-time in the shoe industry including 10 years at The Pentland Group based in London. Sally is now a freelancing designer working on print & pattern, screen printing, lino printing, graphic design & shoe design. Using computer skills, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, iPad Pro and drawing skills to create work.

Leicester Print Workshop 

Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.

We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
