Teen Screen

This "Mini Print Club" is a day session for young people aged 12 - 18 to learn how to screenprint.

Ideal for beginners with no previous experience, this course is perfect for developing existing ideas and realising them in print using this fun, popular technique.

You will come away with an edition of prints on paper, a printed bag and a printed tea towel, or bring along a t-shirt to print on.

Course Structure 

During the course you will explore the possibilities of screenprinting onto paper and fabric. We will look at colour, mixing inks, registration and experiment with layering images.

• Looking at what images work best for screenprinting
• Coating and exposing your design to silkscreen
• Mix and prepare inks
• Setting up your board
• Learn how to register your image correctly
• Print onto paper and fabric and troubleshooting problems
• Cleaning your screen

About the Tutor

Leicester based artist Katy Goodrich has been a part of Leicester Print Workshop for the last 10 years. Starting as a volunteer she then undertook a 5 year apprenticeship at LPW learning all aspects of print.

Specialising in screenprinting, Katy uses underwater photographs to create her work mainly using the CMYK colour separation technique.

Leicester Print Workshop 

Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.

We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
