"Friendly, relaxed, informative, inspiring. Excellent tutor / technician. Learnt so much from this experience to take it forward and develop further." May 2019
This new course is a fantastic way to start to your screenprinting journey and a weekend that will encourage playful experimentation whilst giving you a solid foundation in creating, planning, making and printing your own prints.
This weekend course is designed to help you realise your work in screenprinting using a whole tool-belt of techniques. Combine photographic images with areas of cut stencil, painted open mesh and use crayons to explore the hand drawn and mark making potential of this versatile and very popular printmaking technique.
Participants will explore the various different ways that a photograph can be experimented and developed in screenprinting, and will learn how to use registration to create multilayered prints.
A combination of hands on demos and opportunity to work with your own screen will give you the confidence to learn new skills or to really refine any existing screenprinting experience you may already have.

Emma Gardner is an artist, printmaker and educator. She creates original artwork using collage, photography and printmaking processes.
Emma’s practice is shaped by her response to places, questioning ideas of space, concealment and transition through printmaking. Her works often evoke a sense of stillness and silence within ambiguous spaces.
Emma studied Fine Art at De Montfort University, Leicester. After graduating in 2012 she joined Leicester Print workshop to help facilitate her practice and was awarded Artist in Residence in 2015. Emma is currently teaches a diverse range of printing techniques at LPW. She exhibits nationally and internationally and has a wealth of experience working on creative projects with community groups, schools, museums and galleries.
