About the Tutor

Gregory Millar is a printmaker specialising in linocut. Gregory studied graphic design and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee before embarking on a career in graphic design at the BBC in London. Gregory has also worked with creative agencies on brand identity projects around the globe. He has now come full circle and returned to his love of printmaking.

Gregory's design style is inspired by numerous influences including the timeless clarity of classic Japanese woodblock prints and the honest realism of the Flemish painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder. His linocut prints are often large in size and use multiple linocut plates to overlay different colours together. The finished results are bold, figurative images, based on a wide range of my everyday experiences which hopefully evoke an emotional connection with the viewer. Gregory's subject matter is drawn from landscapes, sports and his young family.

Gregory has exhibited at:

The National Open Printmaking Exhibition 2018, Bankside Gallery, London

LOOP Exhibition 2018, LCB, Leicester

Attenborough Arts Festival 2018, Leicester

The Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2018, London
